An executive at Munich-based manufacturing company Siemens said the company leverages the digital world for problem-solving.

In an interview with BNN Bloomberg Wednesday, Peter Koerte, the global chief technology and strategy officer at Siemens, said the company uses what's known as an “industrial metaverse.”

“The industrial metaverse is really all about getting real-world problems solved in the digital world, because you can do it much faster,” Koerte said.

According to the company’s website, in the industrial metaverse, real machines and factories are mirrored digitally, allowing for problems to be identified and fixed faster.

Additionally, Koerte said the company is able to go beyond just creating digital replicas.

“What we do now is connect it [the replica] to the real world. So it can constantly be updated, and it can learn.

All the data is coming together and that enables you to make better decisions in the real world,” he said.
